Well its been too long again to post an update...what have I been working on?

Well a TON of new things, I've built up more fine art stock for the new site, I've built out some other websites (more on this soon) which will relate to the different niches within the "art for sale" marketplace. I've also been playing with (actually for quite a while now!) my own custom built Amazon Astores - Fine Art Books

I hope to build out a LOT more of these to not only help people find what their looking for online BUT also to earn as much passive income as possible (An artist dream!) so that I can concentrate more on just Painting the HUNDREDS of Visionary abstract ideas I have sketched down in my "Brains" book.

My Abstract Paintings Gallery

My All New 2009 Abstract Paintings Gallery will be going live within a few weeks as I am about to "ramp up" my schedule of output of abstract painting. Painting in the media of oils as many artists know, takes time for the finished works to dry, the results of these canvas originals can be dazzling to the eye as the oil medium is so three dimensional.

The New Range of Jewell's Fine Art will be for sale to the general public including many original abstract paintings which will demonstrate the power of abstract oil painting on canvases. The main media of oils, acrylics and oilbar will reflect years of study & practise resulting in the main oil paintings gallery.

The Artwork for sale will suit all tastes and will be themed into popular and original niches of interest. (autumn leaves, flower bursts, geometric abstraction, abstract expressionism, lyrical abstraction, etc). One of main aims will be to establish more sources of distribution, especially in my favourite city; New York. I have visited the old town & the village many times and have always been impressed by the extremely high quality of fine art on display within the modern art gallery displays.

Although I have my own distinctive & original "voice" I am always interested in other works of art by leading abstract artists such as Piet Mondrian, Georges Braque, Pablo Picasso & other 19th & 20th century (& 21st century!) artists & art movements. Generally speaking these are now classed under the modern contemporary art umbrella.

The Flow of my paint is producing a bouquet of colours, here in the United Kingdom we have left autumn & the rain behind, ...so hear comes the sun!

Well its that time of year again when I get up with the Dawn Chorus to greet the day! I Love the sun & its wonderful power to invigorate & inspire...This is my absolute favorite time to see the "Wondrous Stories" that my life has given me as a blessing so far...

Much anticipated changes are on the way for the website, delays are necessary when the high standards I wish to achieve are the focus of my efforts. Royal purple, gold, gunmetal grey are just some of the fantastic colour combinations I am playing with at the moment.

"Once upon a time...."

No... I'm not going down the fantasy road today! This post is about WHAT IS going to happen in 2009 for David Jewell! I will be launching my new interactive website and offering real time secure payment of both Limited edition prints & Original for sale..."Worldwide".

There may be a downturn in the economy but I am seeing no real effect on my creativity or output & sales. This is a Great time to knuckle down and produce Quality Art for those who wish to have their lives Enriched with the beauty found within art!

I am also going to allow the site to grow virally with posts & quality articles that will include reviews of Art related product, art-study holidays and current trends & news of the artist world as its changes.

Spring into New opportunities

Although it might be cold outside, its hot inside with all my activities! I have been working 60+ per week for the last month building new relationships on the net, particularly with my American cousins. Its been great using the updated Skype telephone software, with some of my calls the clarity has been better than if I rang someone next door.

This is the time to "Spring into New opportunities" and with so much networking available, I hope to express myself to a whole new audience with my Fine Art. I have also been working on a series of New paintings that capture the "airy" feel of light, allowing the canvas to breath new life within its own area. More about these 12 paintings soon...

Finally I am approaching a milestone soon as I hit 45, its really weird to see that figure on paper...I feel 21 in my self, like so many creative people actively participating in the very thing that is close to their heart...it breathes NEW LIFE into one's soul.

Came across this website today and after reading into became amazed at its original idea. Basically its an online community of entrepreneurs who lend to 3rd world and Eastern Europe small businesses (usually just one man bands) on an interest free agreement. This can then enable these wonderful people to get off the ground, make profit, help their fellow citizens...and eventually pay back the loan. Its so simple and brilliant! The sign up takes just seconds is easy to understand and you can leave a profile with a link back to your site (They even accept paypal!).

I signed up today and was able to help a number of people in Africa within minutes its really rewarding on many levels and just one of them is the fact that I have had thousands lent to me over the years to help me in my Art career path, it's just great to give a little back. Quiet Times & The Harvest

In My regular Quiet Times that are needed to refresh my batteries both personally and in the creation of Vision for my paintings, I pondered this morning about the many seeds I have planted in my life career as an artist.

I have spent many years testing & hopefully improving new ideas and mediums and I believe just like in our daily lives we are always learning and will continue to do so until our last breath. Unless of course we give up. Stop. Become Lazy or loose our focus.

I have been painting now for over 21 years and can say quite honestly that the reaping & sowing of my efforts are slowly starting to show. Thats a long time to wait for the harvest ....but I am not "waiting", I am "doing". Each day I chip away at each new project keeping the momentum going, even when I just don't feel like it. I am constantly motivated by these words and hope you, the readers will be too...

The Oldest Art Magazine in the World!

In utilizing the Google search machine for my marketing adventures, I stumbled upon this link to "Art News". http://www.artnews.com/home/

There are literally dozens of Art Magazines to browse through at our local Borders but this one is the biggest & oldest and has been around since 1902! I can just imagine the type of artists that must have read and then been featured in this glossy magazine over the years, maybe someday soon I will be reading about David Jewell & JewellFineArt.com? One can only Hope so....

What I find really interesting is that if you subscribe to the mailing list you can browse through all the archives and download what you wish...going back years, I believe this is a valuable tool for testing new waters and getting hold of key people within the art community.

When it comes to staying teachable, understand two things:

1) Nothing is interesting if you are not interested. Philip B. Crosby writes: 'There is a theory of human behaviour that says people subconsciously retard their own growth. They come to rely on cliches and habits. Once they reach the age of their own personal comfort with the world, they stop learning and their minds run on idle for the rest of their days. They may progress organisationally, they may be ambitious and eager, and they may even work night and day, but they learn no more.' It's a tragedy when we allow ourselves to get in a rut and never climb out. We miss the best God has to offer. In contrast, teachable people are fully engaged in life. They get excited about things. They are interested in discovery, discussion, application and growth.

2) Successful people view learning differently than those who are unsuccessful. That doesn't mean that unsuccessful people are unable to think the way successful people do. If you have the desire and the discipline, you can retrain yourself to think differently. Teachable people are always open to new ideas and are willing to learn from anyone who has something to offer. Sidney J. Harris wrote: 'A winner knows how much he still has to learn, even when he is considered an expert by others. A loser wants to be considered an expert by others, before he has learned enough to know how little he knows.' It's all a matter of attitude.

Bottom line - it's truly remarkable how much a person has to learn, before he realises how little he knows. So, stay teachable. To read more....

What inspires you to be creative?

As I got up at 5.30am this morning I could sense the moment of crystal clear thinking...the beauty of the dawn of a new day often does this to me...its why I love getting up early (and my beautiful 4 yr old insists on greeting the day early too!)

This day holds SO much potential...and in many ways its up to me which direction I can take it. Other than the divine nature of time and space we are all given so much freedom...this freedom is the freedom of the will and can take us too places of unimaginable peace and joy if we recognize the creative nature of the ONE who created it all. I am so blessed to be where I am, happy with my lot and really grateful for the opportunities that come my way to share my faith and present to people what I believe are gifts from above.

Everybody has potential. I believe creative people are all in the same family and we need to encourage each other to follow our creative passions. Whatever you do... artist, poet, singer, songwriter, writer...lets remember we all need to start somewhere. "Follow your creative passion today!"

Its all about perspective, seeing clearly in the dark, EVERYONE will face failures both large and small in life, we all need to FIX our minds on the final goal, to run the race to the end! This is the big challenge of any self publishing artist, sometimes I can look back at a whole month (like this one!) and think where has that 30 days gone? WHAT have I done to further my goals in my business? It seems to take so long to progress, but one step at a time going FORWARD is the important mindset...Exciting times are ahead for me this year...Brand New 'ART-NICHE' websites, dozens more paintings, hundreds more sales! LET'S GO!

Crazy Christmas

Why Crazy?...well it seems the world goes a little mad, extremes in the divide between the rich and the poor expand, excuses to go mad with drink, stress from family, etc, etc ....all in the name of Jesus?...Surely not?

For me this is a time of Focus on my life, with crystal clear thinking of what I believe is the right path to take in this adventure of life. It is such a joy to see my family around me SO happy, why are they so happy? Well part of the reason is I believe I am expressing the gifts I have been given and this Joy and PEACE is infectious. Whatever your circumstances, I encourage you to step out in Faith like I have done, dare to be different and follow your dreams.

I've been impressed with the technology so much I have now installed it on my laptop, which sits right next to where I paint. Free phone calls to the other millions of other people is very appealing to me. I like the professional aspect of the networking among others especially the fact that teleconferencing is also free with this system.

Although I love to paint, I also get a kick out of anything that can A - Save me time and B-Save me money! It has been great keeping in touch with my other artist friends and so far the software has worked beautifully, (not bad for what really is a P2P system)

Changeling - Mike Oldfield New Autobiography

Just finished a review of MIKE OLDFIELD'S new book "The Changeling". I have read other Biographies of this great musical artist but this is better as its written from the source, Mr.Oldfield himself!

Together with VANGELIS & JEAN MICHEL JARRE I would say these 3 Artists have helped me discover imagination in my paintings more than any others. When I get more time I plan to write a lot more about Vangelis and how this amazing musician has been with me in my life since I was 9 years of age!

GETTING INTO "The ZONE"

In my weekly meeting with my fellow Artist Friend, Inspired words flowed from our conversation yesterday afternoon...
We discussed the experience that most artist have, almost a spiritual event, when one feels inspired and rewarded as the artistic talents are being exercised, We call it "The ZONE"
This is when we feel we are producing the best work we can at that moment in time.

Getting into "The ZONE"- How to do it with consistence:

1. We must prioritize the art first, any hobbies need to be seen as just that and shouldn't replace the creative artistic energies.

2. Sitting on your butt and working, that's how you get "IN" there, if you are in front of the canvas and putting in the hours, eventually you arrive at a point where the work is flowing.

3. A flow is a thing that hasn't got blockage.

4. Don't neglect your family, but make it hard to drop the brush (interruptions need to be controlled)

5. We need to plumb the depths, and create what we are meant to create.

6. Artistic gifting is a responsibility to be taken seriously.

7. Atmosphere can really help, inspiring music, energetic & pleasing surroundings, even the sense of smell (Fragrance Oil etc) can achieve an ambiance productive in the right kind of thinking.

8. Remember practise in the gifting only sharpens the talent and can only improve our work over time, we can also sharpen one another when we encourage excellence in each others work-
work your way INTO the zone TODAY!

Its one of the best songs from my past that always reminds me of my wonderful & happy childhood.

I was always daydreaming and when asked what I would like to do when I get older....the answer would always be an inventor! Well I came close as I now "INVENT" images using both realistic & abstract themes within my Oil & Acrylic paintings.

Its also so strange for me to know in my knowledge of self, that it is at this time of the year I always feel really inspired, full of energy and so positive in Life's Adventure.

I am really looking foreword to producing some great Art over the next few weeks.

New 2007 Brochure to follow soon

Working late tonight & hoping to update the brochure I have been giving away to New Collectors of my Art since 2005. Although I have created over 150 pieces in the last couple of years I will choose only the VERY BEST of my paintings and produce the Ltd Edition prints, ready for the Christmas 2007 market.

Also really pleased that the first stage of the professional lighting and simulated "Digi-back" system arrived today. I hope to do the first tests next week and I am convinced the results will be worth the investment in this latest equipment. I will be able to shoot the reproductions of my art in-house and thus achieve a consistent work flow.

In all I do in the fine art world, I am aiming at excellence, my standards are high not just to see the collectors smile as they hang the painting on the wall, but it is also important to me to try to do the best I can (and to remember to enjoy the whole experience of gaining knowledge!)

Summer 2007...a time for Reflection

Another Summer and the relaxing & warm feeling of time slowing down conjures up my imagination. Vitamin D is not the only by-product, the long days can with a little help with creative thought, suggest what Eternity might be like. I have more ideas to create Beautiful paintings than at any other time of my life the problem is TIME.

So I have developed a personal plan to fit in as many duties as possible into the early mornings to free up the days to become more prolific in my creative output. The people I admire in business are the ones who do not waste any time in the day and enjoy the fruits of their labour with their families. The wholesome balance of work & pleasure is difficult to achieve overnight.

It can take years to perfect , so I am starting to read up on others who are successful in this. I have also finished my 10 year "Goals" plan. I am a strong believer in putting pen to paper & creating a plan of action.

Weeks have passed trying to finalise the integration of my shopping cart, payment processor and accounting structure only to find out there is not 1 UK company centralising these services! BUT in the good ol'USA there are plenty AND they compete really well against each other bringing the costs down all the time to the end user.

BIG players are now leveling the field with pay pal recently becoming a bank here in Europe and Google offering Google check-out. 50 Days Have Passed!

Its slipping through my hands like sand...TIME! 50 days ago I updated this blog but it seemed like yesterday. So much has happened, the progress of the new website continues and with the completion of STUDIO 3 I now have the Full Giclee setup.

This enables small and large format MUSEUM ARCHIVAL quality printers to supply the ever growing needs of the Ltd Edition Canvas and archival paper demands.

Also progressing is the SEO and IM (Internet marketing) websites I am developing to fully utilise the potential within the Internet /online art community that I serve. Happy Blessed times.

PS Its been raining now for neally all this time too! (Who Cares?)

Inspration comes in many forms and this morning for many different reasons this piece of poetry by N. L. ZINZENDORF inspired me greatly.

The grip on Life and the BUZZ that I get from reading powerful encouragement nearly always motivates me through the day. And Today I put the finishing touches to my website sitemap... maybe i'll be painting by the weekend, I have so many Ideas for some eye-popping paintings. I also continue to build up my portfolio of images, the photo above is of the sunrise at 5.30am a few days ago from behind my art studio!

New series of Paintings For 2007

With only a few days left before the Re-design goes live I am testing the final stages ready for the advanced site menu. Already however i am working on V.3.0 as I see a need to incorporate as much of the new developments within the the New Web 2.0 standards.

I hope to include more embedded videos and of course audio including user interaction on the customisation of some final art designs. This week also sees me starting a new series of 12 Paintings all about the " Wonders of the Universe"...more about this fascinating and exciting subject coming very soon!
